Overview

CaneShield™ by Postalloy® is a sugarcane-focused hardfacing product line designed for the demanding wear conditions found in sugar mill operations. Sugarcane processing equipment is exposed to abrasion, corrosion, impact, and buildup from cane juice, bagasse, dirt, and other contaminants.

CaneShield™ products are engineered to help protect, rebuild, and extend the service life of critical sugar mill components, including crusher rolls, scrapers, hammers, knives, hooks, and other high-wear parts.

The goal of the CaneShield™ line is to provide reliable wear protection for sugar mills while helping improve performance, productivity, and equipment life throughout the milling season.

Application

Sugar mills use heavy-duty equipment to crush, shred, move, and process sugarcane and bagasse. These applications create extremely harsh wear conditions, especially on components that are constantly exposed to abrasive material, moisture, impact, and corrosive cane juice.

CaneShield™ is designed specifically for these sugar mill environments and provides repair and wear protection solutions for crushing and milling equipment.

What Wear Problem Does It Solve?

CaneShield™ helps address several common sugar mill wear challenges:

  • Abrasion from sugarcane fiber, bagasse, sand, dirt, and other contaminants
  • Corrosion from cane juice, moisture, and harsh mill environments
  • Impact from crushing, shredding, and processing heavy material
  • Loss of grip on crusher rolls and roll surfaces
  • Wear on hooks, knives, scrapers, hammers, and other high-wear components
  • Contaminated surfaces on cast iron parts from oil, cane juice, oxidation, and buildup

How It Works

What Parts & Equipment Are Being Protected?

CaneShield™ products can be used to protect and rebuild sugar mill components such as:

  • Crusher rolls
  • Milling rolls
  • Roll teeth
  • Hooks
  • Scrapers
  • Hammers
  • Knives
  • Trash plates
  • Cane rakes
  • Shredder / fibrizor components
  • Cast iron sugar mill parts
  • Other high-wear sugar processing components

What Type of Wear Happens?

The main wear types are:

  • Abrasion: caused by cane fiber, bagasse, dirt, and other material moving through the mill
  • Corrosion: caused by cane juice, moisture, and harsh operating conditions
  • Impact: caused by crushing, shredding, and heavy-duty processing
  • Metal loss: caused by friction, repeated contact, and high-wear mill operation
  • Surface contamination: caused by oil, cane juice, oxidation, and buildup on worn components

Extending Life & Reducing Downtime

CaneShield™ products help create a stronger, more wear-resistant surface on critical sugar mill components. By rebuilding worn areas and protecting high-wear surfaces, CaneShield™ can help mills reduce downtime, improve equipment reliability, and keep parts in service longer.

CaneShield™ is also designed to help enhance grip on sugarcane and bagasse, which can support better mill performance and extraction efficiency.
